About Us

Schiehallion was established in 2003 following our move to NZ from Scotland the previous year. We currently live on 15 acres outside Katikati in the Central North Island. The name Schiehallion is owned jointly between myself and my youngest daughter. We chose the name Schiehallion as it is a mountain in a very beautiful part of Scotland and it means Fairy Hill of the Caledonian.

Our love of dogs has been a lifetime experience and I have had Irish Setters for nearly 30 years as well as other Gundog breeds. I had long admired the Leonberger however did not have the opportunity to realize my dream of owning one until our move to NZ.

All our dogs are very much part of our family and any breeding at Schiehallion is carefully considered with the emphasis on improving the high standard present in NZ and building on partnerships with other breeders to continue this. All our dogs have recommended health testing before any decision is made about breeding. You are welcome to view the health tests on request.

We always welcome enquiries about our breeds so please feel free to contact us and we love to have people visit and meet our dogs. I hope you enjoy your visit to our website.

Cheers
The Davies Family
